The buildings which were once known as The Crewe Works .. it was first built in 1840-ish and grew and grew to become one of the premier locomotive works in the country. At it's zenith it employed over 8000 men and women and covered over 140 acres of ground - it was massive. As the UK slimmed down - especially since they dumped the Euros many of the jobs vanished. It is now owned by a conglomerate of British and European companies. They still maintain Class 37's and Class 47's for the freight sector.
