Police shoots man who brandished a gun at LAPD officers following a short foot pursuit

Boyle Heights, CA - Police opened fire on a man who they said brandished a gun at officers following a short foot pursuit in Los Angeles’ Boyle Heights neighborhood Sunday night.
Gang Enforcement officers were patrolling the area of North Ficket and Boulder streets when they encountered the suspect around 10:45 p.m., the Los Angeles Police Department posted on X.
The man fled to the rear alley of an apartment complex on the 2400 block of Boulder, where police said he produced a handgun “and an officer-involved shooting occurred.”
The suspect, 30-year-old Francisco Garcia, was struck by the gunfire and taken into custody.
Paramedics transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was treated and listed in stable condition.
Police said the suspect’s handgun was recovered at the scene.
