Orange County inmate kills himself in prison when he shoved orange peels down his throat

Authorities Saturday were investigating the death of a 35-year-old inmate who was housed at the Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s Intake Release Center in Santa Ana.

Sean Conroy Whiting was booked into jail on Wednesday for violation of a domestic violence restraining order.

Whiting was taken to Orange County Global Medical Center for a medical issue early Friday, and died at about 4:30 p.m. that day, officials said.
