Michigan DNR rescues an injured bald eagle

Newaygo County, MI - In the footage shared on the DNR’s Facebook page, the officer moves carefully toward the grounded eagle after being called by residents who discovered the bird and reported its injuries.

The agency said the eagle had a puncture wound in its shoulder and was emaciated because it could no longer hunt effectively, making the on‑scene assessment and safe capture critical to its survival.

After securing the bird, the officer transported it to West Michigan Wildlife Rehabilitation, where staff began treatment and recovery efforts. The DNR says the eagle has since been moved to another facility with more space and flight pens, giving the bird room to regain strength and practice flying during rehabilitation.
