Suspect tells El Paso Sheriff's deputies he led them on a chase because he was bored

El Paso, TX - A 25-year-old was arrested Saturday after he allegedly tried to outrun the law during a traffic stop because he was bored and needed to "feel something."
According to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, Christian Esparza was arrested when deputies said they saw him driving a blue Audi Q7 going east fast near the 14900 block of Montana Avenue at around 2:59 a.m.
The Sheriff's Office said deputies tried to pull over Esparza, but allegedly he ignored their commands and continued speeding, heading east.
Deputies said they caught Esparza after he allegedly lost control of the car and entered a deserted area, damaging the Audi's front bumper.
As the bodycam shows, after the crash, Esparza was ordered to climb out of the car at gunpoint.
When asked why he ran, Esparza can be heard saying,
"The rush, I guess, I need to feel something. It's just boring."
Esparza can also be heard saying that he should've kept going instead of trying to turn and lose control.
"It would've been fun; I would've gotten home... F*** it."
Luckily, no injuries were reported during the chase.
According to jail records, Esparza was booked into the El Paso County Downtown jail, where he was charged with evading arrest/detention with a vehicle and bond was set at $1,500.
Jail records also show Esparza was released from jail on Monday after posting a surety bond.
