-----
Castle Hills, TX - On Wednesday around 1 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of Honeysuckle Lane. The driver was identified as Richard Daniel Rodriguez, who was wanted on a warrant out of Iowa for violation of parole, according to police. The warrant also indicated that Rodriguez was considered armed and dangerous and had a history of violent behavior.
As seen on bodycam video, police asked Rodriguez multiple times to get out of the vehicle, however he refused. Police eventually entered the vehicle to try to detain Rodriguez, but the suspect resisted by allegedly trying to close the vehicle door while continuing to refuse their commands.
The passenger, identified as Jade Mileena Villanueva, allegedly assisted Rodriguez by putting the vehicle in drive. This allowed Rodriguez to flee the scene. During the pursuit from police, the vehicle sustained damage to two tires. The vehicle eventually came to a stop in the 100 block of Thames Drive.
Bodycam video shows Rodriguez getting out of the vehicle, fleeing on foot towards a nearby home. Police pursued him and wrestled him to the ground, taking him into custody.
Rodriguez was taken to the Bexar County jail where he was booked for his Iowa warrant as well as evading arrest using a vehicle.
Villanueva was charged with interference with public duties and evading arrest using a vehicle for allegedly helping Rodriguez flee.
