New Smyrna Beach, FL - Bodycam video released Saturday by the Volusia Sheriff's Office shows deputies helping save a woman who was found floating face-down in the ocean at New Smyrna Beach.
It happened that morning as beach goers flagged the deputy down around 10 a.m.
The video shows Deputy Gourley and another person rushing into the water and pulling the 68-year-old woman back onto dry land, the sheriff's office said.
The woman was unresponsive and without a pulse, but deputies Gourley and Manhart immediately began CPR and revived her, the post states. Volusia County Beach Safety soon arrived on scene and saw that the woman was taken to the hospital, where she was stable at last check, the sheriff's office said.
The post continues, stating the deputies involved in the rescue are due for awards.
"This serves as a powerful reminder that alert beach goers, like those who spotted the woman and quickly alerted deputies, can make all the difference," the post states. "Life-saving awards are forthcoming for the deputies involved for their heroic actions."
