Lawton, OK - The Lawton Police Department is providing an update on Wednesday’s shooting at the Walmart on Sheridan and a FedEx vehicle stolen earlier in the day.
An official statement from LPD says officers were dispatched on Aug. 20 to a FedEx vehicle found in the canal of Ferris and Waterford at Numu Creek. The vehicle was identified as one taken from 12 NW Sheridan earlier in the day.
Officers say the suspect, later identified as Bob Morton, fled the scene before their arrival.
Morton has been identified as the suspect in the Walmart shooting that took place the same day.
Investigators say Morton took a firearm from the waist of someone inside the store using self-checkout. He then fired several shots inside the store near the North entrance.
LPD says Morton was transported to the hospital for a self-inflicted gunshot wound, where he later died due to his injury.
