Traffic Stop, Pursuit in Modesto Leads to Couples Arrest for Drug Possession for Sale and Burglary
-----
Modesto, CA - A routine traffic stop for expired registration took an unexpected turn in Modesto, where local police arrested two individuals on multiple charges, including drug and felony offenses. According to a social media post by the Modesto Police Department, the arrest was facilitated by the aerial support of Sky 1, which allowed officers to track and safely coordinate a swift response to the situation.
The two suspects, identified as 40-year-old Jacob Mallory and 36-year-old Miranda Appleby, were apprehended for possession of drugs for sale, evading police, burglaries, and unlawful use of a scanner. The success of the operation, devoid of any pursuit on the ground, was largely due to the overhead guidance provided by Sky 1. In a statement, the Police Department expressed their gratitude, "Thanks to Sky 1, officers were able to monitor the suspects safely from above, avoiding a pursuit and helping coordinate a quick, controlled arrest."
Further support during the incident was provided by the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Team. Their involvement was highlighted by the Modesto Police in their report, recognizing the value of collaboration between law enforcement agencies. "Our appreciation goes out to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Team for their teamwork and support in bringing this case to a safe end," the department shared in the same post.
