London, KY - Three officers with the London Police Department have been disciplined following an incident last week where officers reportedly slapped an autistic man who was already in custody.

The incident happened April 22 after police were called about a man who had walked away from an adult assisted care facility in London.

London police arrested Cody Grimshaw, 20, on several charges, including assaulting officers and resisting arrest.

Court documents identified Grimshaw as “low I-Q” and show he is represented by a guardian. All charges against Grimshaw have since been dropped.

In a news conference Friday afternoon, the acting London police chief said after an internal investigation, two officers suspended without pay have resigned. One supervisor not at the scene was suspended with pay and will receive a written reprimand.
