Euclid, OH - The shooting happened Sunday evening on E. 219th Street. Police say they responded to a call from a woman regarding a domestic violence incident.
The female victim, who was able to escape, was injured. She told police she believed the man tried to kill her. She was also extremely concerned about her 3-year-old child, who was still inside the home. She also said the suspect had guns.
Officers tried to get the suspect out of the house, but he refused.
Euclid Police Chief Scott Meyer says officers were concerned about the safety of the child, so they entered the home.
The video shows that once officers got inside the house, the suspect pointed a loaded rifle at them. An officer fired and shot the suspect.
“Officers started first aid immediately,” said Police Captain Donna Holden. The suspect was taken to the hospital but died a short time later.
The female victim and the child were both taken to the hospital. They were both treated and released.
