5-week-old kitten rescued off side of busy interstate

Hillsborough County, FL - The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said deputies found the kitten stranded on the side of I-275 on Sept. 8 after a good Samaritan called law enforcement to get the scared feline help.
The heartwarming rescue was captured on a Hillsborough County deputy’s body-worn camera.
“My precious baby! Oh my goodness. It’s OK,” the deputy could be heard saying as she approached the tiny black kitten.
However, as the deputy got closer, the kitten dashed off, running alongside the road while multiple cars passed by. The deputy chased after the kitten, yelling, “No, no, no, don’t run out in traffic.”
A trooper with the Florida Highway Patrol later arrived and tried to help grab the kitten, but it escaped once again. The deputy was finally able to snatch the feline as it ran toward her feet.
The good Samaritan who called law enforcement was nearby when the deputy lifted the kitten to safety. She became emotional as she told the kitten’s rescuers, “Thank you so much, thank you so much.”
The kitten, named Dash, now has a new home with the deputy who helped rescue him, according to the sheriff’s office.
