Montgomery, MD - The Maryland Office of the Attorney General released the Montgomery County police body cam footage from a Dec. 15, 2025 incident in Silver Spring in which a man died following his release from police custody.
Montgomery County Police officers responded to a 911 call for a person experiencing a mental episode. Upon arrival, they found Jamal Thompson, 31, of Silver Spring and placed him in restraints and took him into custody for an emergency evaluation.
Prior to being restrained, Thompson told police several times, “I’m okay.”
He was taken to the hospital and released from custody. Later he experienced a medical crisis. Thompson died Dec. 22, according to the Attorney General’s Office.
