Fort Bend County deputy rescues woman in crisis on Grand Parkway overpass
Fort Bend, TX - A Fort Bend County sheriff's deputy is being praised for rescuing a woman on the brink of suicide Tuesday on the Highway 99 and FM 1093 overpass.
Deputy Terrance Greene responded to the scene, where he found the woman in crisis. Newly released body camera footage captures the dramatic rescue.
In the footage, Greene can be heard urgently attempting to intervene.
"Stop, stop, stop. Let's get away from this right here," Greene said to the woman.
Greene remained with the woman until the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Crisis Intervention Team arrived on scene. The team helped connect her with mental health services.
"True heroism isn't loud--it's the calm voice, the steady hand and the compassion that pulls someone back from the edge," said Precinct 1 Constable Chad Norvell.
