15-year-old female arrested in Port St. Lucie after hitting police car with shovel
Port St. Lucie, FL - A 15-year-old girl was arrested in Port St. Lucie on Monday after police say she bashed a patrol car with a shovel, causing $1,200 in damage.
Officers with the Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD) say they were dispatched to the 1400 block of Bartell Ave. on Monday for reports of a disturbance.
Upon arrival, police say they met 15-year-old Amy Chance armed with a shovel in the middle of the street.
Before officers could exit their patrol car, Chance began repeatedly striking the top of the hood with the shovel, causing $1,200 in damage.
"Are you kidding me?" one officer said in disbelief during the incident, which was captured on bodycam.
Chance was taken into custody and booked for a felony count of criminal mischief, per PSLPD.
"Regardless of age, resorting to intentional damage to people or property in our city will result in an arrest," PSLPD wrote in a post to Facebook. "With the exceptional training of our officers, the suspect was taken into custody without incident."
