Bodycam shows Grand Rapids firefighters respond to house fire

Grand Rapids, MI - New video released by the Grand Rapids Fire Department shows the dramatic moment firefighters entered a smoke and flame-filled room Sunday.
A GRFD crew responded to reports of a fire on the second floor of a home near the intersection of Thomas Street SE and Union Avenue SE just after 5:30 p.m., the organization’s union wrote on social media.
The body-worn footage released by GRFD shows a firefighter climbing the stairs to the home’s hazy second floor and entering a bedroom full of black smoke and shooting flames. The firefighter, armed with a hose, is seemingly able to extinguish much of the fire within a few minutes.
“Moving with purpose and a smooth stretch of the hoseline enabled our members to obtain a quick knockdown of this upstairs bedroom fire,” the union wrote.
No injuries were reported, the union said.
