Video shows confrontation with Pawnee County Sheriffs, Cleveland Police officers over search warrant
Cleveland, OH - Body camera video shows a heated confrontation the Pawnee County Sheriff had with Cleveland Police officers over a search warrant.
That confrontation happened outside the police station in October, and now the Cleveland Police have revoked their cross-deputation agreement, meaning officers won’t be taking calls in the county anymore.
Cleveland Police says they were planning to serve a search warrant in Pawnee County, and two weeks prior, Chief Clint Stout called the sheriff’s office to let them know. Since Cleveland officers are cross-deputized, they are legally able to work cases in the county.
Officers met at the police station the night of October 28th to serve the warrant, and Sheriff Shawn Price showed up and started yelling at officers. The Sheriff says he didn’t find out they were serving the warrant in his area until 15 minutes beforehand, and if something were to go wrong, he’d be the one to blame.
Sheriff Price says officers didn’t do anything legally wrong because they were cross-deputized, but he’s mad he wasn’t involved in the planning.
