Oklahoma driver arrested after wild Thanksgiving box truck police pursuit
By: Oklahoma City, OK - A driver was arrested on Thanksgiving after leading law enforcement on a chase in a box truck, with the incident captured on Oklahoma Highway Patrol dash cam footage.
Troopers spotted the driver on I-40 near Morgan Road, where he was seen driving erratically, avoiding stop sticks, and throwing items out of the window.
The pursuit continued off the highway, requiring several attempts by troopers and police to stop the vehicle.
"I'm coming up on Wilshire, loud bangs, into the ditch," a trooper said during the chase.
Once the suspect was off the roadway, a significant law enforcement presence was visible as they attempted to get him out of the box truck.
"Get out of the truck, get out of the car," troopers were heard commanding the driver.
After several minutes and the use of non-lethal pepper balls shot into the cab of the truck, the suspect surrendered.
Officials believe that several narcotics may have been involved. The suspect was arrested on four different complaints after being evaluated at the hospital.
