Jones County, GA - A man was arrested after a police chase that reached speeds of up to 115 mph on Highway 49 in Jones County.

According to the Jones County Sheriff's Office (JCSO), a deputy spotted a red Mercedes with a tinted windshield and license plate cover and tried to pull its driver over.

That's when the car suddenly "swerved back" and sped off down Highway 49 after signaling like they were turning toward Wilkinson County. The driver turned on his hazard lights but did not stop, speeding and weaving through traffic and reaching speeds up to 115 mph.

The chase found itself in a neighborhood, where the driver exited the Mercedes and fled on foot near Mattie Wells Drive.

JCSO said a tip led them to the suspect, who was hiding in a crawl space under a home, and took him into custody. He was identified as Warrick Wayne McElroy, and he was charged with obstruction, drug possession, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, speeding and other violations.
