A Sissonville family was saved by Kanawha County deputies who waded through freezing floodwater after Wednesday’s overnight storm brought flooding throughout the region, authorities said...and their body cameras caught the act.

As water levels rose, it seeped into some homes, leading to numerous calls to 911 from people trapped in the high waters. According to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, deputies worked throughout the night and following day responding to people trapped in their cars and their homes.

In one instance, deputies responded to a home along Lotus Drive in Sissonville after a family became trapped inside their home.

The department released body camera footage Friday in which Deputy T.A. Casto can be seen wading through freezing deep water to rescue an entire family from their home, including an infant, returning several times to ensure their safety.
