Decatur Police officers shot a man who pointed a crossbow at them

Decatur, IL - On April 22 at approximately 9:22 a.m., officers arrived to the 300 block of E. William Street regarding an armed subject with a crossbow. Officers followed the subject, Michael Boliard, 54, of Decatur, into a building on the block. While approaching, Boliard pointed a crossbow at the officers. In response, officers fired their weapons and struck Boliard.
Boliard was released from the hospital on May 5 and taken into custody on charges of Aggravated Assault of a Peace Officer, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Armed Violence, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, and three counts of Threatening Public Officials.
Boliard appeared in court on May 7 and was denied pretrial release.
