Police release body-cam video in deadly Las Vegas Walmart shooting

Las Vegas, NV - Las Vegas police are providing new video from body-worn camera footage during an officer-involved shooting at a local Walmart that left one person dead.
The incident took place on Tuesday at the Walmart store near Boulder Highway and Harmon Avenue.
During a briefing held Friday afternoon, police provided video that allegedly shows the suspect, 35-year-old Travis Ward, entering the business and shooting a man before running out of the store.
Preliminary details from police claim the victim, Kwame Swain, got into an argument with his girlfriend outside the Walmart. Two women, later identified as 25-year-old Raqiya Smith and 30-year-old Ameea Blue, approached them after Swain said something to the women.
During the encounter, a physical fight began. At some point during the incident, witnesses told police they heard Smith call her boyfriend, Ward, and ask him to bring a gun, according to investigators.
Several officers were then dispatched for reports of a fight inside the business, with Officer Cristobal Magana arriving shortly after the call. As Officer Magana parked and exited the vehicle, he heard a gunshot coming from inside. Ward was allegedly seen in body-worn camera footage running out of the Walmart armed with a gun. Police say Officer Magana gave several commands for Ward to drop the gun, but he refused to comply. This led to Officer Magana firing at the suspect and striking Ward.
Medical personnel were called to the scene, but Ward was pronounced deceased despite life-saving efforts.
Swain was later located inside the Walmart with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition. According to police, Swain is now stable.
Smith and Blue were taken into custody and booked on suspicion of battery with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit battery, and disregard for personal safety resulting in death or substantial bodily harm.
