Las Cruces police K9 injured chasing robbery suspect

Vado, NM - A Las Cruces police K9 was injured while chasing a robbery suspect in Vado.
On June 16, Luis Aguirre was arrested after Dona Ana authorities chased robbery suspects from Chaparral to Vado following reports of a robbery.
According to police documents, a vehicle matching the description of the suspects was seen in the area of Stern Drive and Swannack Road (near I-10).
Deputies with the Dona Ana County Sheriff's Department tried to pull the vehicle over, but the suspect's vehicle didn't stop and reportedly ran through stop signs, traveling at over 70 mph through a neighborhood.
The documents described that the vehicle came to a crashing stop at a rock wall.
The documents then describe that deputies noticed damage underneath a mobile home on the 100 block of Braddy Street, leading them to believe the suspect had crawled underneath to hide.
This is when the Las Cruces Police Department's KP unit comes in.
As you can see in the video, LCPD officers order the suspect to come out from under the mobile home, warning them that the K9 will bite.
Next, you see the K9 going in, the video cuts, and then the K9 comes out, and officers notice an injury to one of the dog's ears, with one officer commenting, "I think he did that," and the captions on the video spelling that radio traffic mentioned, "dog's got a bite."
However, it is important to note that LCPD said it didn't officially identify how the K9 got injured and Aguirre, the suspect, is not facing charges regarding assault.
Court records show Aguirre is facing criminal trespass, criminal damage to property and resisting, evading or obstructing arrest-- charges that on Monday he pleaded not guilty to.
