Pryor Police arrest man who tried to break into vehicle outside restaurant

Tulsa, OK - The Pryor Police Department says officers arrested a man who tried to get into a vehicle outside a restaurant on Saturday.
Police responded to the Boomergang Diner at about 8:30 p.m. and found Christopher Todd Hale standing near the entrance of the restaurant. Officers asked him to step away from the entrance, and he initially complied.
Police say that during the investigation, Hale admitted to attempting to open a car door, stating he was “trying to help.” An officer explained that opening vehicle doors without permission is unlawful and could result in criminal charges.
While the officer was still speaking, Hale suddenly walked away toward the restaurant entrance and refused to stop. Police say that because Hale was attempting to enter a business where the public was present, officers physically intervened to prevent a potential safety risk and further disturbance.
Hale actively resisted officers, refusing to place his hands behind his back and attempting to roll while on the ground. Hale was then safely taken into custody.
He faces charges of obstructing an officer and resisting arrest. Police say he was not injured during the incident and was booked into the Mayes County Jail.
