If War Should Come..
By: it's 1944 and Britain gets ready for war.. from the eponymous GPO (General Post Office - which for the uninitiated was the interface between Government and the general public) here we see the police are being mobilised - the British Bobby is fit for anything and everything.. if the German Bolche think they can beat the old British Tommy they have another thing coming. Only, no-one knew it would drag on for year after war and the German Fritz wasn't as easy to slap about with a good old fashioned British flogging as first thought, plus, the country had gone broke. As war started out the vaults at the Bank Of Engerland was full floor to ceiling with Gold Bars.. good old fashioned British Gold Bars, well South African gold bars really but the less said about that the better at the moment they were the British Bulldogs gold and there was enough to slap anyone with. Except, they never thought about half a decade of Total War - expensive Total War especially when Britain was standing alone until the USA entered into the fray and helped keep Britain alive. The UK only recently paid off what it owed to the US.. you'd have thought it would have put politicians off the idea of going to war but 'Oh No, perish the thought', there are many politicians from all persuasions who want a war with Russia - the daft bastads.. smh with resignation and bewilderment.
