Armed carjacking suspect arrested after a PIT maneuver ends chase in Dayton

Dayton, OH - A police chase occurred after officers located a car that was reportedly stolen at gunpoint during an aggravated robbery.
Dayton police said crews were sent to the 500 block of East Third Street around 6 p.m. on Thursday after getting reports that a car was stolen.
When officers arrived at the scene and completed a preliminary investigation, officers learned that the car had been stolen at gunpoint.
Officers said that technology was used to find the car, and shortly after it was located, officials said police activated police lights and sirens.
Then, the driver pulled off, starting a police pursuit due to the car being stolen during an aggravated robbery, police said.
Police were said to have used a Pursuit Intervention Technique in the six-minute chase.
Officials reported that the gun used in the incident was found in the stolen car – the gun was said to have an extended magazine loaded with 22 rounds.
A 43-year-old man was arrested and taken to the Montgomery County Jail, where police said he admitted to the crime and stated that he planned on committing more robberies.
Furthermore, police said that the man admitted to prior narcotics use. Police also found that the man was previously convicted of domestic abuse and resisting arrest.
