Laurens County, SC - A Laurens County deputy was fired after a body-worn camera recording captured fellow deputies repeatedly questioning him about damage to his patrol car — and the deputy appearing unable to clearly explain what happened.

The video, obtained by FOX Carolina Investigates, shows the tail end of a traffic stop in August 2025. As deputies look over the vehicle, they press the deputy about a large scrape and what appears to be a dent.

“I scraped it coming out of somebody’s house,” the deputy says on camera.

Other deputies immediately ask when the damage happened and why it wasn’t reported sooner.

“When did you do that?” one deputy asks. Another adds, “It looks bad… you didn’t tell us.” A deputy points out, “Yeah, it’s dented… that’s like completely dented.”

When pressed for details, the deputy offers a vague explanation and suggests he hit a shed while at someone’s home, but his description shifts as the questions continue.

“What did you scrape?” a fellow deputy asks.

“It was like the shed of somebody’s… like shed thing… coming out,” the deputy responds.

“Out of their driveway?” another fellow deputy asks.

The deputy replies, “Umm… yeah… it wasn’t like their actual driveway but like…”

The video also shows the deputy struggling to recall where he was or what call he was on when the damage happened. When asked if he remembered where he was, the deputy responds, “Not really… it was somewhere in Waterloo.” When asked what call he was on, he says, “I can look it up.”
