Thurston County deputies use a grappler to stop a fleeing auto theft suspect

Thurston County, WA - Footage from an earlier pursuit that resulted in the capture of an auto thief with multiple warrants out for his arrest.

The driver was booked into jail for possession of a stolen vehicle and attempting to elude. There were no injuries or damage reported to any vehicles.

At the beginning of the pursuit, you can hear the deputy remind themselves to take deep breaths, which is something we specifically started teaching in our pursuit decision-making class to help combat tunnel vision and improve high stakes decision-making and driving.
