Bath Township, MI - Bath Township authorities released body camera footage of the officer-involved shooting on Saturday that injured a knife-wielding suspect.

Footage shows officers responding to a report of a suspicious person attempting to break into vehicles on the 6400 block of Heathfield Drive just before 2:30 p.m.

Police say the suspect was then seen entering a garage.

Shortly after, a second person called 911 and said he had been stabbed and beaten by an unknown person who entered his home.

Video shows police entering the home, discovering the suspect holding a victim at knife point.

Police ordered the man to drop the knife and release the hostage several times. After several seconds, the suspect released the hostage and exited through the back door.

Police followed and ordered him to drop his knife. The suspect looked back at the police, turned forward, and ran.

Officers then fired several shots at the suspect. The suspect continued running.

The accused then stopped at a small basketball court briefly as police once again ordered him to drop to his knees. The suspect runs into another home via the garage on English Oak Drive.

Police attempted to enter the home but were unsuccessful. After several attempts to kick down the front door, the homeowner answered. Police informed her that an armed fugitive was inside her home and ordered her to evacuate. The homeowner told police her daughter was still inside.

The suspect then exited from the home’s sliding door, police say. Police ordered him to his knees yet again, but the man continued into another garage.

The officer then fired one more shot as the suspect entered the garage.

The suspect stopped as he entered the garage, police tackled him, restrained him, tased him, called for emergency medical service and began first aid.

Graphic footage showed the man with at least one gunshot wound. No officers were injured, and the suspect was taken to the hospital, where he is expected to survive.

The victims sustained minor injuries that were treatable at the scene, police said.

The shooting is under investigation by the Michigan State Police, which is standard practice for all officer-involved shootings.

Officials have not named the suspect or a potential motive.
