Lincoln County, MO - The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office has released body camera footage from a recent search for a missing 2-year-old boy who had wandered into a heavily wooded area on June 3.
In the footage, the search team can be seen identifying the child's footprints, which helped officers determine the direction of travel.
Deputy Rumple and K-9 Nicky were called in to track the child's trail through the dense woods.
The search team followed the track for about 10 minutes before hearing the child crying in the distance.
The child was found safe and was reunited with his family.
“This footage highlights not only the outstanding tracking capabilities of K-9 Nicky, but also the sharp backwoods skills of Corporal McPike in identifying the initial evidence that led searchers in the right direction,” the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said on its Facebook page.
“The successful outcome is a direct result of the coordinated teamwork, experience and training of everyone involved.”
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office also expressed its gratitude to the family for coming into the office, saying hello and providing some treats for the Deputies and K9 Nicky.
