KCSO releases helicopter video of pursuit and body camera footage of deputy involved-shooting
By: Bakersfield, CA - The Kern County Sheriff’s Office released helicopter and body camera video of a pursuit and deputy-involved shooting that happened in early February on East Brundage Lane near Edison Highway.
Officials with the sheriff’s office responded to a report of a stolen vehicle on East California and Chamberlain avenues on Feb. 4, around 11:17 p.m.
The driver of the reported stolen vehicle, who was later identified as Raul Candido, 24, fled and a pursuit started. Candido fled west on Highway 58 and exited on Fairfax Road and drove through a fence of a business on East Brundage Lane, according to KCSO.
The pursuit ended and Candido and his passenger, later identified as Stephen Romo, 27, fled on foot.
The officer involved shooting then occurred. Candido and Romo were arrested at the scene.
Sheriff officials said the use of force was determined with be within policy.
