Royal Marine Commandos on record-breaking Atlantic Ocean mission row past Sheerness in Kent
A team of four Royal Marine Commandos undertaking an epic rowing and record-breaking challenge to row across the Atlantic Ocean from New York to London were seen passing Sheerness in Kent this afternoon (August 10), after having set off on May 31.
The Ocean Revival 2020 team are highlighting the importance of protecting our oceans, particularly against plastic pollution.
Footage shows their ocean-going rowing boat being dwarfed by commercial shipping as they headed up the River Thames towards their final destination, with the total distance traveled reckoned to be a whopping 3,700 miles.
According to theisleofthanetnews.com, only 57 people have ever completed rowing across the North Atlantic Ocean.
