Dozens of people have been killed in US northeast as the remnants of Ida hurricane cause record-breaking rains and flooding. US East Coast faced surging rivers, tornado damage and continuing calls for rescue on Thursday. In New York City, torrential rains submerged subway lines and grounded airline flights. Recovery efforts are underway to bring back transportation systems. In New Jersey, fire gutted homes in Manville after severe flooding made it impossible for emergency crews to save them. The governors of New York and New Jersey, have declared emergencies in their states and urged residents to stay home. Ida made landfall in Louisiana on Sunday destroying many homes and leaving millions without electricity. The National Hurricane Center had warned of significant and life-threatening flash flooding in the mid-Atlantic region and New England.
