China's migrating elephant herd returns home after 500km odyssey
China's viral elephant herd that migrated over 500 kilometres across the country have returned to their original habitat.
In the video, filmed in Yuanjiang Hani, Yi and Dai Autonomous County in Yunnan Province on August 8, the herd of 14 wild elephants crossed the Yuanjiang River near China's National Highway 213 (G213) and arrived on the south bank after being guided.
According to reports, the elephants were in stable condition and they were only 26 kilometres away from Mojiang County, their original habitat.
The herd of elephants walked from Mojiang County, Pu'er City to Yuanjiang County, Yuxi City and then headed north from April 16.
