6 Palestinians escape from a Israeli prison
Israeli police say six Palestinians have escaped from a high-security prison in the northeast of al-Quds. Israeli media say the prisoners were cellmates and had tunneled out of Gilboa prison overnight. The reports say five of the prisoners belonged to the Islamic Jihad movement and one was a former commander affiliated with the Fatah party. Israel has mobilized security forces to search for the prisoners, who they believe might try to reach the nearby West Bank. The Fatah movement has already hailed the prisoners’ move, calling it a slap in the face of the Israeli regime and its military. Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has also called it a heroic act and great defiance against Israel’s security system.
