Mum goes viral after replacing husband with Jack Grealish in wedding snaps
A mum has gone viral after replacing her husband with Jack Grealish in their wedding photos.
Mairead Stevens, 37, from Surrey, had the idea after developing a “crush” on the footballer throughout the Euros.
Prankster Mairead decided to take her newfound interest in football to the next level – and wind-up hubby Lee, 42, in the process.
One of her followers on TikTok suggested she cover Lee’s face with pictures of Grealish, so she set about printing out images of the athlete from Google.
The only thing left to do was wait for him to notice the sudden change in décor.
In a video posted to her TikTok account (@thesteveos), Mairead cuts out Grealish’s head from various images.
She then sticks them over Lee’s in their wedding shots, which are framed throughout the house, and wonders how long it will take him to spot the changes.
The video was viewed more than 260,000 times, racking up 27,000 likes and hundreds of comments from fans left in hysterics.
One person said: “I’m dying to know how long it’ll take him.”
“This is absolutely hilarious, love it – and more so that the husband hasn’t even noticed,” another fan added.
Someone else said: “Love how out of proportion the photos are.”
“Literally this is one of the best thing I’ve seen on the internet today, 10/10,” commented another viewer.
In a follow-up video, Mairead revealed her children, 7-year-old Maggie and James, 4, had spotted the pictures before Lee had – two days into the prank.
“Why are you marrying that man?” a concerned Maggie asks.
Mairead explains his name, to which James hilariously replies: “I don’t want a new dad called Jack.”
Mairead explains they will just “trick” daddy – and adds that Jack is “very rich”, to which the children appear to perk up.
When Lee continued to be oblivious to the changes, Mairead decided to come clean three days later – filming the whole exchange.
In the video, Lee clocks the pictures after Mairead gives him a nudge in the right direction.
He stares at the picture in shock before laughing and going closer to identify the footballer.
“Shows how much attention I pay,” Lee jokes.
He continues around the house to inspect the other pictures.
He then quips: “Might as well leave him up, he looks better than me!”
Luckily, Lee found the prank hilarious.
“He didn’t notice at all, so in the end I had to prompt him to replace a frame he had knocked down accidentally a couple of weeks ago,” Mairead, an accountant, said.
“It made him glance at the wedding photos on the wall. He thought it was hilarious and was surprised he hadn’t noticed he had been replaced.
“He was really shocked at the attention it had received online – and that no one had mentioned the TikTok to him!
“People generally thought it was hilarious and great banter between us – lots of our followers like the humour in our relationship.
“We don’t take anything seriously and it’s all light-hearted fun.
“And I did have a small crush on Jack throughout the Euros – I think lots of women did!”
